Drug shows promise in preventing seizures after stroke, early trial finds
A new antiepileptic medication reduced seizure risk in stroke patients prone to post-stroke epilepsy, according to a phase 2 trial published in The Lancet Neurology. If confirmed in larger studies, the finding could change how hospitals treat high-risk stroke survivors and reduce disability and healthcare costs from preventable seizures.
