Classic study confirms: most people think they're better drivers than everyone else

Researchers replicated a 40-year-old finding that the vast majority of people rate themselves as safer and more skilled drivers than average — a cognitive bias with real implications for insurance, safety policy, and public health campaigns. The persistence of this illusion suggests traditional awareness campaigns may fail because people don't believe the warning applies to them.
