New drug target offers hope for treating deadly lung scarring disease
Researchers have identified a way to block a protein called OGG1 that appears to drive pulmonary fibrosis, a fatal lung disease affecting hundreds of thousands globally. The finding could lead to the first effective treatment for a condition that currently has no cure and kills patients within 2-5 years of diagnosis.
