New delivery system could unlock mRNA therapies for wound healing and tissue repair

Researchers have shown that lipid nanoparticles can successfully deliver therapeutic mRNA that produces VEGFA—a protein that stimulates blood vessel growth—both in the lab and in living organisms. The advance could expand the toolbox for mRNA-based treatments beyond vaccines and cancer therapies, potentially opening markets in regenerative medicine and chronic wound care.
