Smoking and genetics combine to dramatically raise diabetes risk

Researchers analyzing Swedish and Norwegian health data found that tobacco use significantly increases the incidence of both type 2 diabetes and LADA—a slower-developing autoimmune diabetes—particularly among genetically susceptible individuals.
