A major U.S. study of nearly 62,000 schizophrenia patients found that doctors frequently prescribe multiple antipsychotic drugs together, despite limited evidence this approach is safer or more effective than single-drug treatment. The findings could reshape clinical guidelines and reduce costs for insurers and healthcare systems managing one of psychiatry's most expensive chronic conditions.
