Cash transfers improve health outcomes, but conditions matter less than expected

A major evidence review finds that both conditional and unconditional cash transfer programs successfully boost health service use and outcomes—but the conditions attached to the money may be largely irrelevant. For policymakers weighing program design and costs, this suggests simpler, cheaper cash-only approaches could deliver comparable results in improving public health.
