Drug already used in transplants may boost immune recovery after stem cell therapy

Researchers found that sirolimus, a common immunosuppressant, can accelerate the recovery of natural killer cells after allogeneic stem cell transplantation. The finding could improve survival rates and reduce infection risk in transplant patients, potentially lowering healthcare costs and expanding the patient populations eligible for this increasingly common procedure.
