Eye scans may reveal hidden brain damage in aging rural populations
Researchers found that tiny blood vessel changes visible in the retina correlate with cerebral small vessel disease, a major cause of stroke and cognitive decline. The discovery could enable faster, cheaper screening in underserved communities using routine eye imaging technology already available in many clinics.
