Scientists discover how to control cancer spread by editing a single gene region

Researchers have identified that modifying the 3' UTR—a control region at the end of genes—can dramatically alter whether cancer cells metastasize. The finding, published in Nature Cell Biology, could unlock new drug targets and offer biotech companies a fresh approach to developing treatments that stop tumors from spreading, the leading cause of cancer deaths.
