Quick gum test could transform how dentists detect serious oral disease
Researchers tested a rapid point-of-care diagnostic that detects matrix metalloproteinase-8 in patients undergoing oral surgery, potentially offering dentists a fast, non-invasive way to identify inflammatory disease. If validated in larger studies, the test could reduce patient complications and improve treatment decisions in dental clinics.
