New framework reveals how teachers actually learn geometry—and why it matters

Researchers have developed the first systematic framework for understanding how teachers engage with basic geometric concepts. The work addresses a critical gap in teacher training and curriculum development: most professional development assumes teachers understand geometry the same way, when in fact their thinking varies widely. Getting this right could improve math outcomes and reduce teacher burnout from ineffective training.
