New scaffold design makes perovskite solar cells more stable and cheaper to mass-produce

Researchers have cracked a manufacturing problem holding back next-generation solar cells by using porous lead iodide scaffolds to improve performance and durability. The advance could accelerate commercialization of perovskite panels, which promise higher efficiency and lower production costs than today's silicon alternatives.
